Kelly Hinkle, the self-taught photographer and videographer who produces work as “The Downeast Cowboy,” is known for his artistic odes to Maine, which include his scenic stills (often captured spontaneously) and impressive aerial drone footage.
But what really sets Kelly’s photos, videos and now children’s books apart is at the heart of his craft — his drive to share the natural wonders and down-home feeling that makes Maine, Maine, with the rest of the world.
Using an old college nickname, Kelly started making videos years ago to post on his YouTube Channel. He did many formats of videos until he did what was called "The Downeast Your" showcasing different local business in his local area.
Hinkle made a bigger name for him self with a drone and the mission to showcase his back yard (Maine).
Kelly has grown on social media on many platforms including TikTok and Instagram and Facebook.
You will hear his signature catch phase "Get At It" in every video he makes.
Kelly picks places in Maine that he finds that he feels are interesting and unique. While trying to showcase local business to support the Maine economy.
Kelly has used many different cameras and drones while filming but leans heavily on using his cell phone.
He funds these adventures out of his own pocket.
There are different ways to get involved and support him on his journey.
